Abstract (EN)
In this thesis, the pottery sherds found in Sumaki and Kerküşti mounds and which are thought to have been used by reprocessing are examined and the concept of re-use in prehistoric societies is studied. Sumaki Höyük/Batman which is located on a ridge overlooking the Garzan River, one of the tributaries of the Euphrates, was dated to Pottery Neolithic Period, and the Kerküşti Höyük/Mardin which is near the Kocadere which feeds the Habur River is dated to Halaf Period. In addition to these two settlements reflecting the different stages of the process in which the use of pottery started and became widespread in the immediate aftermath having an important role in social life; the findings related to the Menekşe Çatağı settlement, which have a different context both in terms of period and region, are also included in the thesis. The processed pottery samples which are dated to Iron Age found in Menekşe Çatağı which is located near the city of Tekirdağ at the shore of the Marmara Sea, are used to increase the diversity of the samples as well to make evaluations on reflection of similar habits in different societies by using data originating from a settlement from different period and region.
