Abstract (EN)

Caucasus on important point, has been a focal point of the great powers such as especially Russia over the years. Caucasus is a geopolitical and geostrategic regions, have fought for years against these big powers. As the geographical area is divided into South and North Caucasus. In this thesis, throughout the history of the northern Caucasus struggle against Russia were discussed. Russia's great power, domination continued efforts in the Northern Caucasus for a long time, though. After the Cold War, the disintegration of the Soviet Socialist Republics of the Union, was stronger than continue to struggle for independence in the Northern Caucasus ethnic groups. Some ethnic groups while becoming autonomous republics in Russia, some of which gained their independence. Russia's expansionist policy has failed. But, nowadays, it still continued its policy on North Caucasus peoples. The people of the northern Caucasus, with their forced migration to the Ottoman Empire in the 1850s, now has a large population in the Republic of Turkey. In my thesis, ethnic groups in the North Caucasus be handled individually, their struggles and their results will be the subject. In addition, as a result of historical developments in the process of changing Russia's Northern Caurasus policies are described in detail.
