Innovation applications in agricultural sector: A qualitative research

The agricultural sector has increased its importance with the COVID-19 global pandemic process that the world has faced in recent years. This process has shown that the most inportant factor for people to continue their existence and to reach the future with confident steps is the minimum level of food needs and it is possible to meet this with the agricultural sector. Especially after the world population approaches the level of 8 billion, it becomes more and more difficult to meet the food stock of people every day, and it becomes an important situation. For this reason innovation practices have come to a much more important point in order to increase productivity in the agricultural sector. New obligations have emerged in areas such as product, production, sale, marketing, logistics, and management. In this research, the innovations used in agricultural activities in Turkey and their current situation were investigated. The aim of the research is to examine the innovation practices in the agricultural sector in Turkey. In this context, documentary source scanning technique was used within the scope of qualitative research method in the research. The universe of the research consists of all agricultural organizations involved in innovation practices in Turkey. In this context, 40 agricultural organizations that can be accessed via the internet were determined as the sample of the research. The innovation pratices of agricultural organizations were examined through the web Pages of the organizations. As a result of the research, it has been seen that innovation studies have gained momentum in Turkey recently. In the research sample, it has been seen that public institutions, organizations and private sector enterprises want to increase the addebvalue obtained from agriculture with innovative activities. It has been determined that the research sample organizations have implemented a large number of innovations for this purpose, and at the same time, they continue to work on many projects whose R&D studies are ongoing.
