The effects of agricultural supports on production: The case of Balıkesir

Agricultural support has become more important with each day due to high agricultural production potential in Turkey. Decreasing incomes of producers due to increasing costs accelerated the escape from the agricultural sector and increased migration from rural to urban areas. And the government has been tried to remedy this issue with agricultural supports recently. To understand the net effects of the support programs in agricultural policies, it is considered that there is a must for scientific studies that include the given supports and their evaluations on its effects. In this study, the history of agricultural subsidies in Turkey has been researched and implemented support programs of today's manufacturers have attempted to obtain information about the effects on income and wealth. The panel data analysis applied in this study to investigate the effects of agricultural support scheme on wheat production between the years 2009-2015 in Balıkesir Province. According to the foundings, there is a positive relationship between agricultural supports and wheat production in the long and short term.
