Analysis of Iranian house facade in the context of design criteria- the case of Tabriz

Residential buildings are one of the most distinctive and effective elements of the city silhouette. In this context, it is important both in terms of urban aesthetics and its contribution to the environment. Residential facades contribute to the formation of a city silhouette and reflect the cultural and architectural values of that city. Within the scope of the study, it is aimed to discuss the facades of the residential buildings of the Valiasr region of Tabriz, in terms of the relationships they have with the city, architecture and culture. In this context, the apartment buildings selected in the city of Tabriz have been examined under the headings of facade design principles, typology, material, color, repetition, symmetry-asymmetry, contrast-harmony, transparency-opacity and measurement. In Valiasr, possible effects of architectural design principles and elements on facade design and suggestions that can help the design process are discussed. It is seen that the design principles in the context of facade design are ignored and the facade designs which are not related to each other have emerged. The buildings do not have a unique design and there is no visual unity between the building facades. Therefore, the facades of the buildings are either copied from each other or made incompatible with the surrounding buildings. In some cases, although the buildings are well designed; it is observed that there is no unity between buildings in terms of urban planning, and the design principles are not given sufficient importance in the constructed buildings.
