Investigation of the effect of legos on the visual perception skill development of five-year-old preschool children according to the design-focused thinking model

The main purpose of this research is to examine the effect of the educational program designed with Legos according to the Design-Focused Thinking Model on children's visual perception skill development. The study group of the research, which was conducted using the experimental research model, which is a quantitative research method, consists of 59 children aged 56-72 months who attend the independent kindergarten in Şehitkamil district of Gaziantep province. The research consists of experimental, placebo and control groups. Data in the research; It was obtained through family and teacher interviews, using the Child and Family Recognition Form, Demographic Information Form, Frostig Visual Perception Test. Lego Duplo Game Box was used as a material in the research. An educational program planned with Legos was applied to the experimental group for 8 weeks, and an educational program on food and nutrition was applied to the placebo group for 8 weeks. A post-test was given to all groups at the end of the 8th week. A follow-up test was applied to the experimental group 3 weeks after the final test. Data obtained within the scope of the research; It was analyzed using the SPSS program. Research data were analyzed by "T-test", "ANOVA", "Post Hoc multiple comparisons test". As a result of the research, it was concluded that there was a statistically significant difference in favor of the post-test between the pre-test and post-test scores of the experimental group children from the Frostig visual perception sub-dimensions Eye-Motor Coordination, Figure-Ground Discrimination, Figure Constancy and Perception of Position in Space. There was no significant difference between the pre-test and post-test in the "Frostig Visual Perception Test" sub-dimensions in the placebo and control groups.
