Abstract (EN)
Today, in the field of design, it has become important to understand the user well and meet their needs. The contributions of User are increasing day by day in the design process. For these reasons, it has become important to understand the user and to gain insight from them. The aim of this thesis is to examine the relationship between user insight and industrial design process. This study was constructed with case study design from qualitative methods and cross-sectional research approach from general survey models. Award-winning tea glass designs and designers in the "Genetic Codes of Turkish Design" exhibition at Design Week Turkey 2017 and Design Turkey Design Award-winning tea glass designs and designers were determined as research sample. Semi-structured interviews with people who accepted to participate in the study were conducted. The evaluation of the findings was carried out on the themes of the concept of insight, the place of gaining insight in the design process, methods of obtaining insight, the role of the user, the insight process in tea glass design, and experiences with good insight. As a result of the research, it was concluded that insight was created from the user during the design process and that insight was reached by obtaining and analyzing many data in different ways.
