Abstract (EN)

The design process go a way long back, and it has a place in every aspect of our life. Sometimes these designs are produced in order to provide convenience to the buyer, and sometimes they are brought to the market with an aim of giving a message. The forms used in designs represent meanings and certain meanings come about when some images come side by side. These meanings are conveyed through the transmission of messages by a number of representatives, and the subconscious events that have been acquired over time are transmitted to the receiver. In the signs that signify and that are signified, signs represent the messages that are described, while the signified ones represent the messages that are described. In the designs that have been examined, the signifier and the signified items were examined with respect to cultural values and indicators and the messages intended to be conveyed to the buyer were discussed. Each culture has its own code meanings and code variations. These emerge from the experiences of societies and they also gain meanings in this way. These experiences also guide designs as they are available in every aspect of our lifestyles. While the messages in the sub-structure of the designs created for specific purposes are read, the cultural differences of the buyers are taken into consideration and the experiences of the cultures gain importance. Cultural values can be preserved or lost in designs. Depending on the designers or designs that bring the designs to the market, the symbols may change in meaning and the messages that the designers try to transfer to the buyers may change. In this research, the meanings formed by putting forms side by side in the design process, and the relations between these meanings and the cultural values and indicators of people are examined. In this research, which has a literature review design, some designs and cultural indicators were examined. This study, based on qualitative data, examined the relationship between direct and indirect understandings of symbols along with the cultural values of symbols and colors. The results of the dissertation suggest that the codes of the same indicators in different cultures can show differences and cultural values affect designs.
