Uzlah in mysticism

The members of Sufism, since the first periods, have preferred solitude in order to mature themselves spiritually. In the process of getting away from the people and being with God, they experienced some mystic events over time. To convey transferring their experiences to the others, they have developed a terminology. The concept of uzlah, as one of them, is one of the sufi's methods of edification a perfect person in Sufism. Although the existence of the uzlah dates back to before Islam, the uzlah that developed by sufis is different from them. In this study, the concept and semantics of the uzlah, as well as its place and in the Qur'an and Sunnah, and its factual process are discussed. Then, the relationship between the uzlah and the concepts that related to the uzlah is emphasized. Finally, in order to understand the uzlah better, the loneliness experiences of some prophets, the opinions of the companions (ashab) and the followers about the uzlah, the views of the Sufis about it and their practices of the uzlah are included.
