The exposition of the gazelles (1-30) of Taşlıcalı Yahya

In this study named "The exposition of the gazelles (1-30) of Taşlıcalı Yahya", the first thirty gazelles taken from Yahya Bey's collected poems (divan) are paraphrased. This study aims at understanding one of the 16th century poets, Yahya Bey's literary aspect, sense of art and his importance in the history of literature. İt consists of two parts and a conclusion part. In the first part of the study, Yahya Bey's life, his literary personality and his literary Works are explained in dateil by making use of the related literature and the gazelles examined. The second part consists of the first thirty gazelles taken from Yahya Bey's collected poems. While paraphrasing these gazelles , classical exposition method is used. According to classical exposition method, verses are turned into prose according to modern day Turkish, and the explanations of these verses are provided. In the explanations, the uses of the words in the Divan Poetry, their metaphorical meanings and sufistic meanings are cited from varous sources. From all these explanations, what the poet wants to mean and comment on is explained. At the end of the each verse, the literary arts are explained. In the conclusion part, Yahya Bey's literary personality, the topics he mostly writes about, his figure of speech (rhetoric) are clarified via the explanations of the gazelles examined.
