Abstract (EN)
This study was carried out to determine the efficiency of the nursing support program (TTDP) developed in accordance with the Roy Adaptation Model which is applied to pregnant women for whom medical termination decision made due to maternal or fetal reason in addition to routine nursing care during treatment process. This study, which is conducted using pre-test – post-test order, is a prospective, single-blind and randomized controlled empirical study. The study was carried out at a university hospital between November 2016 and April 2018. Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI-2) was filled for all women for whom medical termination decision is made in the pre-assessment stage. 77 women who meet the study criteria and get 42 or less points from STAI-2 were included in the sample group. Medical support program based on Roy Adaptation Model was applied to the experiment group in addition to routine nursing care. Routing nursing care was applied to the control group. In the first and last assessment stage; Patient Identification Form, State Anxiety Inventory (STAI-1), Styles of Coping with Stress Inventory and Adaptation Assessment Form for Role Function Area were used. In follow-up assessment, Perinatal Grief Scale was applied. In the experiment group, although first and last assessment anxiety score was determined higher than the control group after TTDP, no statistically significant difference was identified. Compared to control group, it was determined that there is positive difference in Styles of Coping with Stress Inventory, Adaptation Assessment Form for Role Function Area and physical complaints in the experiment group to whom TTDP was applied in addition to routine nursing care. In the follow-up assessment, total Perinatal Grief Scale score was identified to be statistically significantly higher in the control group. As a conclusion, medical termination nursing support program based on Roy Adaptation Model which is applied in addition to routine nursing care allows women overcome grief period more easily by providing positive contribution in the physiologic, self-conception, role function, mutual attachment adaptation field. Key Words: Anxiety, Medical termination of pregnancy, Perinatal grief, Perinatal loss, Roy Adaptation Model
