Husn and qubh in Taftâzânî

Husn and qubh is an issue that contains many problematics the ontological, epistemological and propositional and occupies the minds of human beings. As a matter of fact, Tâftâzânî, an Ash'ari scholar, included the problem of husn-qubh in his work and expressed different evidences to reveal the correctness of his view. In this study, ıt is aimed to clarify Tâftâzânî's husn-qubh views. The paper consists of an introduction, three main sections and a conclusion. In the introduction part of study, the subject of the thesis, ıts importance, purpose, the method used in the thesis and the plan and sources of the thesis are stated. In the chapter, the conceptual framework of the concept husn-qubh is explanied and then the pre-Islamic husn-qubh discussions are mentioned. Then, the commonly used meanings of the aforementioned concepts in Islamıc thought and the problems related to issue were expressed. The explanations of the Mu'tazila, Ash'ari and Maturidi paradigm regarding these problems have been expressed. In the second part of the research Teftâzânî's views on the sıfah (verb) are stated. In the third chapter, Taftâzânî's view on husn-qubha are examined. With this, ıt was aimed to determine whether the sect ho belonged to continued his views or how much he adhered to these views and on what basis he rejeted the arguments of Mu'tazila.
