Assessment of the function of interim storage facilities in hazardous waste management

In this study; The data of an intermediate storage facility in the management of hazardous wastes originating from industries are discussed. Within the scope of the study, the sectors in which hazardous wastes are generated, the amount of waste and their costs are discussed based on the data of an intermediate storage facility in Bursa, which is one of the industrially dense cities of our country. Instead of making agreements with many different waste disposal and recycling companies, waste producers want to continue their waste management with a single company. This, in turn, reduces the ecological footprint and the amount of emissions that will occur in separate vehicles in each shipment, and also reduces the risk of transportation in remote locations during the transportation of waste-generating waste and prevents possible environmental accidents. The main codes that stand out in the waste interim storage facility are; Considering the nature of the production sector in Bursa, 15 02 02, which is a universal waste code for all sectors, it has been informed that the wastes with the codes 12 01 09 and 08 01 11 from the automotive sector stand out. It has been observed that the hazardous waste sludge with the waste code 150110, which refers to the contaminated packaging originating from the textile industry, and the waste code 19 08 13, originating from the treatment of industrial waste water, also form a significant mass. It has been concluded that the main interim storage companies in Bursa have come to an agreement among themselves, and they have minimized the level of competition by bringing their waste costs to equivalent courses. It has been determined that there is a linear relationship between the transportation costs and the waste interim storage costs, after the oil price hikes as of 2022. It is thought that the data obtained from the interim storage facility should be used in determining the quality and quantity of hazardous waste in cities and enterprises.
