Abstract (EN)

In this study, diffusion approximation has been done to the neutron transport equation to compute the diffusion lengths and diffusion coefficients for one-speed neutrons in a homogeneous slab with forward, backward and linear anisotropic scattering. For this purpose, the first order approximations of the Legendre (P1) and the Chebyshev polynomials of first kind (T1) have been applied, respectively. The numerical results obtained for the diffusion length and the diffusion coefficient have been computed using various values of the anisotropy parameters. Then they are given in the tables side by side with the ones available in literature for comparison. The applicability and the efficiency of the TN method to the problems of neutron transport theory have been presented explicitly.
