Abstract (EN)
This study presents a unique perspective on the process of documenting revelation by focusing on the reports concerning how, when, and by what methods the Meccan and Medinan surahs—revealed in a single instance—were written down under the instruction of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). It is shown that efforts to preserve the Qur'an were not limited to oral memorization but were also systematically carried out through written documentation, particularly by scribes assigned specifically for this purpose. Within this context, the study explores in detail the materials used during the time of revelation, the number and roles of the scribes, and the Prophet's direct supervision of the writing process. It reveals the organic relationship between the phases of revelation (nuzūl) and compilation (tadwīn), with special attention given to the methods employed in recording entire surahs at once.
