Abstract (EN)
In this study, the effect of using nano-Al2O3 and glass fiber fabric as reinforcing elements in epoxy adhesive on the bond strength of single-lap adhesive joints was investigated by standard tensile tests. In the experimental study, 6 different types of adhesive joints modeled according to the adhesive layer were produced. In model 1, only pure adhesive was used. In the 2nd model, 2% nano-Al2O3 reinforced adhesive was used. In the 3rd model, pure adhesive was reinforced with glass fiber fabric at 0°/90° orientation. In model 4, the pure adhesive was reinforced with glass fiber fabric at +45°/-45° orientation. In model 5, 2% Al2O3 added adhesive was reinforced with glass fiber fabric at 0°/90° orientation. In the 6th model, 2% nano-Al2O3 added adhesive was reinforced with glass fiber fabric at +45°/-45° orientation. As a result of tensile tests, the average failure load increased by 8.9% in the model with 2% nanoAl2O3 added adhesive compared to the model with pure adhesive. In the model where the pure adhesive was reinforced with glass fiber fabric at 0°/90° orientation, the average failure load decreased by 4%. The average failure load increased by 6.6% in the model where the pure adhesive was reinforced with glass fiber fabric at +45°/-45° orientation. For the model in which the nanoparticle added adhesive was reinforced with glass fiber fabric at 0°/90° orientation, the average failure load increased by 6.5%. It increased by 4.2% in the model where the nanoparticle added adhesive was reinforced with glass fiber fabric at +45°/-45° orientation. Accordingly, the highest failure load was obtained in the joint model using 2% nano-Al2O3 reinforced adhesive. The effect of fiber fabric orientation on the bond strength is shown.
