Abstract (EN)
Ceramics, which have survived from the Neolithic ages to the present day, have carried many cultures into the future with its preserving and aesthetic values and reflected all the characteristics of their experience. For centuries, people have made use of various materials and techniques for the durability and decorative elements of ceramic vessels. Ceramics have increased their resistance against external factors with the advancement of firing technologies. With the advancing technology, ceramic glazes have also developed. The first known secret in the history of ceramics is the natural ash glaze found by chance. Ash glaze is a primitive and fluid natural glaze that emerges as a result of the melting of wood ash in wood-fired ovens and during primitive firing. Ash glazes have become the focus of attention of many artists when they combine with the body they are in and create artistic texture and colors. Within the scope of the research, it is important in terms of reuse of waste materials by visiting the wine factories obtained from the vineyards grown in the Tekirdağ region and investigating the usability of grape marc waste as a raw material in ash glaze recipes. The research consists of three parts. In the first chapter, the definition and historical development of ash glazes are mentioned. In the second part, the grapes grown in Tekirdağ region and the production of grape pomace, which is wine waste, are mentioned. In the third part, in line with grape pomace ash analysis, experiments were made with alkali and boron smelters at increasing and decreasing rates, and the recipes with positive results were tried on ceramic forms.
