Abstract (EN)

Because textile industrial waste water includes hazardous chemicals such as various organic dyes, heavy metals and dissolved salts, it has many harmful effects on living organisms and environment. Textile waste water has a resistence against biodegradation. When a waste water discharged into surface water, it prevents sunlight to enter inside of water. Therefore it inhibits photosyntheteic life of aquatic habitat. As being toxic and carcinogenic chemicals, organic dyes must be removed from the waste water before discharging. Textile industry generates waste water in different flowrates and compositions. So, organic dye removal should be the most important stage of textile waste water treatment process. Many different physical, chemical and biological processes are applied for waste water treatment. Textile waste waters which quit dying kitchen are treated with coagulant in pretreatment pool, and precipitated. Then, they are flew into balancing pool and mix with other wastes come from other units. At last, they are directed to main treatment system. Nevertheless, organic dyes hardly remove from the waste water. In this study, a pilot waste water treatment pool is designed that will provide curing waste water of dye kitchen. The dimensions of prototype are determined considering lateral liquid movement. Two pools having different dimensions are trained for removing of basic organic dye. Pebbles are settled at the bottom of the pool to prevent caking. A gride system is placed to hold pebbles. Montmorillonite is used as adsorbent to retain organic dye from water because of having high adsorption capacity, low cost and abundancy. Because movement of particles and eddy diffusion are inhibited at high suspension concentrations, solid/liquid ratio was chosed as 131,18 g/L. The dimensions of prototype pool were determined as 38.5:82.5:30 cm. Taking into account the results of adsorption experiments performed laboratory conditions, the volume of the system was calculated as 95 L. So, 95 L of 30,000 ppm organic dye solution was contacted with 12.5 kg montmorillonite for 30 minutes. The dimension of pilot pool was determined keeping the prototype dimension ratio. Working conditions, units (pomp, silo, belt filter, etc.) was specified, flow diagram was drawn and economic analysis was performed for pilot study. The treatment method is applied in batch process.
