Abstract (EN)
This study aims to analyze the socio-economic structure of the period using the Temettüat Registers, a product of the Ottoman Empire's Tanzimat-era financial and social reforms. Temettüat registers are an important archival source that provides detailed records of individuals' occupations, incomes, property, and tax liabilities. In this context, a study specifically conducted in the Kütahya Sanjak evaluated the diversity of economic activities in the villages of Çıtak, Kıralan, and Yahyalı, the importance of crafts and agriculture, the distribution of property ownership, and class structure. The study first introduced the structure of the register and its place within Ottoman archival documents. It then analyzed individuals' incomes, occupations, and real estate holdings to reveal the economic landscape of the period. The findings demonstrate that income distribution varied significantly, that certain professional groups gained economic prominence, and that the tax system directly reflected this structure. An examination of the Temettuat Register from the Baklan District of the Kütahya Sanjak offers important insights not only into the local economy but also into the restructuring of Ottoman society after the Tanzimat reforms. In this respect, the register serves as a versatile resource at the intersection of history, economics, and sociology
