Interpretation of theogonic myths in contemporary fashion design

In the Greek language, "myth", which is used in the sense of "word", "story", is referred to as a powerful religious story. It exists to make sense of the extraordinary adventures experienced by gods and heroes, creation, and the inexplicable order of the universe. Whereas mythology is a discipline that examines all of these by covering them. Mythology has inspired many disciplines through art. Mythology, which is also often referenced in the phenomenon of fashion, has been revived with a conscious attitude by finding a place for itself in many of its designs and has formed the visual character of the designs with looks that sometimes correspond to implicit references, the inspirations of mythology in fashion design and the formal expressions that arise as a form of expression within the framework of mythology were revealed with the collection sample of past and present fashion designers. In this regard, the work consisted of seven parts. The first part of the study is the introductory part. In the second part of the study, the concepts of myth and mythology are discussed. The origins, classification, and functions of myths are given. In the third part of the study, the relations of mythology with different art disciplines are examined. As a result of this information, the main topic of the study in the fourth section, the relationship between mythology and fashion design, was tried to explain by giving examples from different fashion designers. In the fifth section, the method of study is explained, and in the sixth section, descriptions of clothing designs created inspired by female goddesses in ancient Greek and Roman mythology are made. In the last part of the study, the results and suggestions are given.
