"Tarjama-i Munebbihāt" (Introduction-analysis-text-index-facsimile)

Tarjama-i Münebbihāt is located in the "Manuscripts and Rare Works" section of the Millî Kütüphane (National Library of Turley), with the place number 06 Mil Yz A 5215/4. In the library ccatalogue, the name of the copyist and the place of copy are unspecified, and it is written that the work was copied in the Hijri year 805 (1402). Considering that this information is included in the "ketaba" section at the end of the work, which may not necessarily reflect the exact details about the author and the publication date, it needs further clarification. Tarjama-i Münebbihāt is part of a larger collection (mejmua) which was donated to the library by Kemal Yavuz in 1984. It is located between the pages 49b-85b of this collection and consists of four different texts, three in Turkish and one in Arabic. It is a 15th-century Turkish translation of the Arabic work al-Munebbihāt, whose identity is disputed, just like the author, and its didactic content is the same as religious and moral content of the Arabic version. It has the linguistic features of the fifteenth-century Anatolian Turkish. This study on Tarjama-i Münebbihāt consists of five chapters except the conclusion part. The first chapter, titled Introduction, includes the description of Tarjama-i Münebbihāt, its content and the general characteristics of its morphology, and a series of information about the Arabic version of the al-Münebbihāt. In the Analysis section, the language features of the work are examined in phonetic and morphological contexts. In the third chapter, titled the Text, the translation of the work is provided. In the Index part, the vocabulary of the text is studied and the qualities and meanings of the words are thoroughly contextualized. The Facsimile chapter at the end of the study is presented to the benefit of researchers and all interested parties wishing to examine the original Tarjama-i Münebbihāt manuscript.
