Abstract (EN)

With the increasing competition in the production industry and the decrease in resources, the need for thermoplastic materials is increasing due to their low cost and design flexibility for mass production. The selection of the thermoplastic material to be used in the design phase is one of the most important points considered in the design. Usually, the designer decides on the material by considering his/her past experiences. However, this situation may cause critical points to be ignored. For example, focusing only on cost may cause the material strength to be ignored or the environmental effects of the material to be ignored. This situation may affect the business as field complaints, high investment costs or environmental negativities. This study was developed to provide designers with a general thermoplastic material selection methodology with the hybrid weighting method. The ten-stage multi criteria decision analysis proposed in the study is: approval of the project, then determination of the team of expert designers and informing the team about the details, determination of alternative and criterion sets, use of the weights obtained from AHP and Entropy as input to the SOWIA method, a hybrid weighting method, to determine the weights of the criteria, creation of material ranking with the TOPSIS method, evaluation of the selected material by experts, implementation of the material and regular checks. Thanks to this study, a general selection and evaluation system that will provide designers with a strong foundation in thermoplastic materials has been provided.
