Abstract (EN)
The aim of the study is to investigate coating microstructures, which may form on the surface of AISI 1010, AISI 4140, AISI D2 and AISI M2 steels subjected to aluminizing process by thermo-reactive diffusion method, to find out chemical composition and layer morphology of the microstructures and the effect of these on mechanical properties.Iron aluminide coating process was applied onto the surface of AISI 1010, AISI 4140, AISI D2 and AISI M2 steels which comprised of different rates of alloying elements by using thermo-reactive diffusion method coating were applied to the each steel at 700 oC, 800 oC and 900 oC for 1, 3, and 5 hours respectively. Fe- aluminide coated samples were prepared in methalographically, then measured with regard to microstructure, micro hardness and layer thickness. Samples prepared in the same way were examined by scaning electron microscopy (SEM) and microstructural images were obtained. In order to determine phases took place in the coating layers, x-ray difraction analysis were realized on the ıron aluminide coated steels at 800 oC for 3 hours. Fracture toughness and kinetic investigation were also carried out on the coated steels.
