The effect of activities prepared according to the flapped learning model on the mathematics achievement of students

This study aims to examine the effect of the flipped learning model on students' academic achievement in 4th-grade primary school mathematics classes. The research method was determined as a quasi-experimental design with pretest-posttest control groups, one of the quantitative research methods. The study program of the research consists of 75 students (Experiment: 37, Control: 38) classified in the fourth grade at a public school in Melikgazi district of Kayseri province in the 2023-2024 academic year. The data for the research were obtained using an "Academic Achievement Test" developed by the researcher. The implementation period of the study is three weeks, totaling 15 lesson hours. The data obtained were analyzed using SPSS 22 software. The multiple-choice achievement test, consisting of 20 items, was applied twiceonce as a pretest at the beginning of the implementation and once as a posttest at the end. Normality test, dependent sample t-test, descriptive statistics and Anova were used to analyze the data. As a result of the research, a statistically significant difference was found between the academic achievements of the students in the control group, where the current curriculum was applied, and the experimental group, where the flipped learning model was applied. Based on these findings, it was suggested that researchers conduct similar studies with different research methods and study groups, and that educators consider applying this method in other learning areas.
