Abstract (EN)

This study was designed as a qualitative research to examine the effects of occupational health and safety (OHS) culture on worker voice. Data were collected using the in-depth interview method. This method aims to thoroughly understand the experiences and perspectives of the participants. In the study, interviews were conducted with 8 OHS specialists working in different sectors. The participants had experience ranging from 2 to 11 years and had worked in various sectors such as construction, shipyard, and shipbuilding. This diversity allows us to understand how OHS practices are perceived and implemented in different sectors. A semi-structuredinterview form was used as the data collection tool. The form includes open-ended questions aimed at examining the relationship between OHS culture, worker voice, and these two concepts. The interviews were conducted face-to-face or online, and voice recordings were transcribed into text. The collected data were analyzed using the thematic content analysis method. In this process, the interview texts were coded, these codes were categorized, and broader themes were created. The codes include topics such as definitions of OHS culture, employee participation, and the management of OHS processes. Various strategies were implemented to ensure the reliability and validity of the research. Independent coders were used during the coding process, and feedback was received from the participants to validate the findings. OHS culture is defined as the joint responsibility of health and safety and the responsibility of all employees in this regard. A strong OHS culture requires employees to act with a sense of responsibility. Worker voice is defined as the ability of employees to express dissatisfaction, concerns, and suggestions regarding work processes. The sense of being valued and gaining self-confidence are important elements of this process. A strong OHS culture increases worker voice, encouraging employees to express their ideas freely. On the other hand, a weak OHS culture negatively affects employee voice, leading to silence and a lack of motivation in the workplace. The study reveals the effects of OHS culture on worker voice, showing how a strong OHS culture enhances employee participation and feedback mechanisms. In this context, it was concluded that safety training should be expanded, and employee-centered approaches should be adopted. The research emphasizes the importance of developing OHS culture in workplaces and increasing employee voice.
