Özet (EN)

The aim of this thesis is to derive the exergetic sustainability indicators of transport airplane and aircraft engines. To reach this target two engines and an airplane are investigated. The first engine is widely used high bypass turbofan engine powering a medium range transportaion airplane and the second one is a turboprop engine powering regional turboprop airplane. As first step the detailed exergy analysis of turbofan and turboprop engines have been executed Then the exergetic sustainability indicators have been calculated by using the exergy parameters obtained from exergy analysises. Additionally the exergetic sustainability indicators of a widely used transport airplane have been obtained by using the flight analysis results that are performed in this thesis. In the analysis results the turbofan exergy efficiency, waste exergy ratio, recoverable exergy ratio, exergy destruction factor, environmental effect factor and exergetic sustainability index are obtained as %31.5, 0.685, 0, 0.408, 2.174 and 0.46. The dyamic torque exergetic sustainability indicators of turboprop engine have been carried out under six different torque operations. The lowest sustainability index has been calculated as 0.26 at 240 Nm torque operation and the highest one has been obtained as 0.41 at 630 Nm torque operation. It was observed that the exergetic sustainability indicators of turboprop engine improved with higher torque operations. The exergetic sustainability indicators of transport aircraft has been found out as 0,422 - 0.440 at climb and as 0,42 - 0,441 at cruise in respect to take-off weight. It?s believed that the application of exergetic sustainability indicators on airplane and airplane engines will play an important role for sustainability. The aim of this thesis is to derive the exergetic sustainability indicators of transport airplane and aircraft engines.
