Abstract (EN)

Azerbaijan has been a place that hosted many civilizations thanks to its natural resources and its geographical location, and it has been a field of struggle for numerous civilizations. As a result of his expeditions of three, five and seven years, Tamerlane completed his Tabriz-centred accretion of Azerbaijan. As a result of these accretions, Jalayirid hegemony has been annihilated. Golden Horde's attacks on Azerbaijan have been stopped with the wars in 1391 and 1395. The threat against Azerbaijan has been prevented thanks to the control of Shirvanshahs and 6 expeditions on Georgians; after that many Georgians' conversion to Islam has been accepted. However, the fact that Tamerlane was not permanent in the region caused a political instability in the geography every time he left. Tamerlane who avoided the policy of destruction gave a lot of importance to the architecture of the region. He showed effort about making the region become a prosperous place about public works and housing as well as agricultural activities. As a result of the internal struggles of mirzas upon the region, after the death of Tamerlane, caused the destruction of political stability. After eliminating his brother Mirza Ömer, Mirza Ebubekir usurped the throne and he was defeated in the two battles in 1406 and 1408 against Kara Yusuf who headed towards Azerbaijan. Thus Azerbaijan got out of hand due to the fact that it had just been three years after Tamerlane's death. Kara Yusuf who eliminated Sultan Ahmed Jalayir in 1410 took the control of the whole Azerbaijan. Shahruh carried out three expeditions in 1420, 1429 and 1439 with the purpose of taking Azerbaijan back to the lands of Timurids and captured the region. However, the fact that Shahruh left the control of the region to Ak-Koyunlu Ali Bey after the first expedition, to Kara-Koyunlu Ebu Said after the second expedition and to Kara-Koyunlu Jihanshah after the third expedition prevented the stability of Timurid hegemony in the region. Although there was a stability in the region during the reign of Jihanshah who captured all the lands of Kara-Koyunlu after Shahruh, Azerbaijan experienced a new crisis due to the defeat of Ak-Koyunlu. Starting from this, though Mirza Ebu Said wanted to capture Azerbaijan in 1468, he lost the war against Uzun Hasan and Timurid State turned into a local dynasty and Azerbaijan fell under the domination of Ak-Koyunlu.
