Type 2 Adult Diabetc's Experiences Related With Disease / Qualitative Research This study was implemented in qualitative type for the purpose of learning feelings and experiences of mature patients with Type 2 diabetes, monitored in Bayındır Hospital Kavaklıdere Endocrine Polyclinic between December 2014 and April 2015, related with the disease. 21 patients with diabetes, who accepted to participate to study among 94 patients with diabetes and monitored in above mentioned department, were included to the study. 66 % of the individuals with diabetes, who participated to the study, was male and most of them were within 61-70 age group (57 %). Data were collected via interview form and deep interview method, and collected with using snowball sampling method. During the study, predetermined non-subjective and non-guding questions were asked to the patients with diabetes, and one on one interview technique was applied. Interviews, which lasted at least 20 minutes, were recorded via voice recorder, and written texts of the data were printed out within 24 hours. Patients with diabetes were informed related with study, and their written consents were collected. Statistical data were used for demographical specifications. During analysis of qualitative data, content analysis method was employed. In connection with the results of analysis, themes were determined and study results were evaluated over above mentioned themes. Statements from experiences of individuals, who participated to the study, were grouped and 3 common groups, where data were unified, were determined. These groups were referred as meeting with diabetes, diabetes perception and living with diabetes. As a result; an overall of 14 themes were obtained from raw data from individuals: lack of information, shock, fear, sorrow, denial, quilt, anger, failure to accept, change on comfort (positive – negative): changing habits, compatibility difficulties, professional difficulties, social difficulties, environmental factors, and feeling himself/herself better. It is suggested that to recognize feelings of persons with diabetes more closely with emphatic approaches, and to facilitate effective decision making and treatment compatibility process by means of diabetes trainings, compatible with their individual needs.
