An examination of the style in Tohfet Yenebiy's "Tevgé Tanişiv" based on lexical diversity in the story and prose

Başkurt written literature, like all Turkic World literatures, should begin with the first Turkic literary work, the Orkhon Inscriptions. Works written in the Kipchak, Chagatai, and Khwarezm Turkic languages up to the 19th century are also literary legacies of Bashkir literature. Therefore, it is not possible to speak specifically of Bashkir literature until the 19th century. With the October Revolution, writers continued to exist in the literary field under Soviet rule. The literary quality of this period has been disregarded due to the perspective of Soviet Russian literature, leading to the neglect of the works of the national character writers and poets of the early period of Bashkir literature. As an individual who participated in the pre-Soviet independence period and also existed under Soviet rule, Tohfet Yenebiy holds significance as one of the first writers of Soviet Bashkir literature. Therefore, the translation and examination of his works into Turkish are valuable in terms of understanding the literary understanding of the period. Hence, in our thesis, the compilation work "Tevgé Tanışıv" published in 1984 by Tohfet Yenebiy, one of the first writers of Soviet Bashkir literature, is taken as the basis. We aim to contribute to obtaining concrete data on the prose world and language of prose in the early Soviet Bashkir literature and to introduce and develop the common cultural elements of language and literature. Additionally, Tohfet Yenebiy falls within the period of the October Revolution, the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution, and the early periods of the Soviet Socialist Republics. This time frame is significant not only in terms of the connection of Bashkir literature with world and Russian literature but also in demonstrating the quality of early Bashkir written language. It is believed that deductions made about the linguistic repertoire and mentality of the period will contribute to the literature of the Bashkir Republic and Turkic World literatures. In order to better grasp and analyze the historical process, the first chapter of the work focuses on the history, literature, and storytelling of the Bashkirs. Then, an informative section about Tohfet Yenebiy's life and literary personality is included, considering that getting to know the author would be useful in the examination of language and style. The compilation work "Tevge Tanışıv" consists of 6 stories and 5 prose pieces. The transcription from Cyrillic to Latin alphabet and the translation into Turkish of each story and prose piece are provided in the second chapter to contribute to the literature of the Turkic World. The language and style analyses of the relevant work are discussed in the third chapter, focusing on how the language of the period and the social events developing during this period are reflected in the works. The linguistic characteristics of Töhfet Yenebiy's texts, dialectological words identified in the texts, words not found in written language, secondary meanings not found in dictionaries, quoted phrases in the texts, syntax, and the relationship between the language of the period and the author's language are presented in the vocabulary section. In the style section, themes, dominant themes according to periods, themes in Töhfet Yenebiy's stories, places and times used in stories, form in Yenebiy's stories, form and national elements in stories, poetry in Töhfet Yenebiy's stories, Yenebiy's prose, language and style in prose, and form analyses in Töhfet Yenebiy's prose poems are discussed.
