Investigation of attitudes of foreign students studying at tokat Gaziosmanpaşa Universi̇ty towards sports

The importance of sports for life has a wide range of effects. It has positive effects on both physical health and mental and emotional well-being. ‎When the relevant literature is examined, the geographical location of sports by providing significant opportunities in proportion to its prevalence in developed or undeveloped countries with a high level of living; It can be said that it provides cultural, social and economic opportunities. ‎The survey model, one of the descriptive research models, was used in the research. ‎The universe of the research consists of foreign university students studying at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa ‎University in the 2022-2023 academic year. ‎The sample of the research, on the other hand, was ‎determined by the accessible sampling method from the universe, and 324 foreign students were included voluntarily. In the research, "attitude scale towards sports" was used as a data collection tool. The research data was filled by the participants by personally reaching the participants by the researcher. Quantitative data analysis methods were used in the analysis of the research data. In this context, the data were analyzed with the SPSS24 data analysis program. ‎ In this context, due to the fact that the skewness and kurtosis values of the distribution of the data are in the range of -1 and +1, the independent sample t test and ANOVA test were applied in the analyzes because the data were normal. As a result of the research, it was determined that a significant part of the participants were doing sports in branches related to football, basketball, athletics and volleyball sports. There was no difference according to the gender of the students, but the lower age university students' attitudes towards sports were found to be higher. Attitudes of the participants towards sports do not differ according to the variable of marital status and socio-economic level. Accordingly, the state of doing sports before has an ‎attitude-increasing effect on the participants towards sports.‎ Keywords: Sports, Attitude towards Sports, University Students, Foreign Students
