Abstract (EN)
This paper presents the measurement results of environmental radioactivity levels for Zile district, Tokat-Turkey. Radiation concentrations of 238U, 232Th, 40K and fission product 137Cs in 50 soil samples collected from different study sites were determined. To evaluate the radiological hazard of the natural radioactivity, based on the measured concentrations of these radionuclides, the mean absorbed gamma dose and the annual effective dose were evaluated separately. The average activity concentrations of 232Th, 226Ra, 40K and 137Cs were found as 61.8 ± 2.4, 67.9 ± 2.8, 479.1 ± 34.6 and 7.5 ± 0.3 Bq kg-1, respectively. The results show that Zile has not high background.
