Abstract (EN)

The Enderun Library also called Ahmed the Third's Library is named through Sultan Ahmed's initiation for construction of the library, is located in the third courtyard which is also known as Enderun Square of the Topkapı Palace. Since Mehmed the Second's reign, the Topkapı Palace library has begun to take a shape and the number of books is increased consistently. Until the construction of the Library in 1719, the Palace's books were separated into different treasure units and sections of Topkapı Palace. After the construction of the "Enderun Library", this situation ended and the book collections were united in a single location. In this thesis, the effects of the Ottoman cultural environment on the idea of building a library during the reign of Ahmed the Third were explained. In addition, the construction of a "building" in Topkapı Palace was explained in terms of building materials and construction craftsmen. Within the scope of the study, the space features of the "Enderun Library" have been explained and the repairs it has seen over time have been examined Keywords: 18th century, Book, Library, Topkapi Palace, Enderun, Ahmed the Third
