Abstract (EN)
This descriptive study was conducted to examine the hope, psychological well-being and perceived social support levels of patients registered at the Community Mental Health Center. The sample of the study consisted of 223 individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia or bipolar disorder who were followed up at the Community Mental Health Center in Niğde province, met the research criteria and agreed to participate in the study. Data analysis was performed using the IBM SPSS V24 program. The mean age of the patients was 42.18±14.73, 58.3% were female, 74.0% were single, 29.6% were primary school graduates, 44.4% lived in the city center and 84.8% were unemployed. The study found that the patients had a moderate level of hope and psychological well-being perception and a high level of social support perception. It was determined that patients who were female, did not live alone, had a regular source of income, had a diagnosis of bipolar disorder and had no predisposition in their families had higher hope, psychological well-being and social support. Age, marital status, age of onset of the disease, alcohol use and regular use of drugs did not create a significant difference in terms of scale scores. A positive high level relationship was found between hope and psychological well-being, and a positive medium level relationship was found between perceived social support. A positive high level relationship was found between psychological well-being and perceived social support. All these data reveal the importance of CMHCs. It is recommended that approaches and interventions that will increase the perceptions of hope, psychological well-being and social support in the medical treatment and rehabilitation of patients followed in CMHCs be developed, support programs that patients and their family members can be included in be created and implemented, and studies be conducted to improve social support in the society.
