Abstract (EN)

The main purpose of this research is that discuss the interaction between religion which is important phenomenon in social life and rebellion which is kind of social movements; to reveal what kind of social relation between religion and rebellion; to determine what kind of contributions of religion to social movements in general and what kind of contributions of religion to rebellion in special. Besides, it is aimed to establish a typology in determining the type of rebellions in Anatolia after entering the domination of the Turks by setting the criteria for the classification of a rebellion as a religious rebellion. The theoretical study is exemplified with two case studies, the practical applications of the theoretical knowledge that mention in the study are presented with a sociological perspective. In the case studies, Baba'î rebellion and Sheikh Bedreddin rebellion are discussed. Turkey's social, political and religious life are strongly affected by these rebellions in period during which they occur and in historical process which continue until today. Thus, these two revolts were subjected to a sociological assessment in the context of religion and rebellion. In the study, the main research design of the philosophy adopted by the research was determined as a qualitative research method by acting from the interpretive social science paradigm. In the data collection of documents, document scanning technique was used and content review method was used for examination of these documents. Historical analysis method was used for analysis of documents. At the end of this study, it was concluded that religion and rebellion have close sociological relations, that religion has taken an active role in the formation of rebellion and rebellion has significant roles about formation of religious social life.
