Özet (EN)

It is assumed that human rights in the world and in our country are an indispensable right and therefore gender equality is an indispensable fact for the society. With this understanding international and national contracts and laws have been prepared. In the real sense, it should be debated whether these laws are fully and effectively implemented and adopted by all the institutions of society. It is revealed by many field studies that gender equality can not be achieved only by law. Social and cultural exchanges are imperative in ensuring gender equality. One of the institutions in which social and cultural studies are conducted is the municipalities. In this study, it was tried to determine the opinions about the gender discrimination of municipal employees in Gaziantep Oğuzeli Municipality. Data is collected by interviewing with the municipal staff and analyzed by free coding. It is determined how participants identified gender discrimination, what happened to gender discrimination, and what were the causes of these events. While some participants deny gender discrimination, participants generally acknowledge it. The reasons for gender discrimination are uneducated, family and mental prejudices. Majority of participants say that there is no gender discrimination in their institution, while a few participants pointed out that women were seen on the second plenary.Whether gender discrimination is preventable or not; twelve of the participants accept that gender discrimination can be prevented with education, culture, learning of legal rights, interpersonal communication. Three out of the participants think that it is difficult to prevent the social structure if it continues like this and two participants think that it cannot be prevented.
