Abstract (EN)
The aim of this research was to examine the gender roles in the context of gender and "the problem of woman", which is unfortunately not even the wrong use as of today, through media representations. The research was conducted with episode-by-episode discourse analysis on the Internet Television Drama "Şahsiyet", which is supposed to bring a novelty to gender representations. In the analysis, gender studies, theories of feminism, masculinity studies, psychoanalytic theory and media representations were used theoretically. Some of the references to "Şahsiyet" that overlook the usual gender representation in the media clearly showed that different media representations are possible in terms of criticizing the problematic existence of the woman in life and the superior position attributed to masculinity. According to Gerbner (2014), the claim of the visual content producers is to adhere to "the usual gender roles and familiar plot patterns to increase viewing. Consequently, although "Şahsiyet" series did not offer this dynamism, it gained high ratings and invalidated this hypothesis.
