Abstract (EN)

Gender inequality is not only a problem of countries but of the world. It affects education structure, politics, economy, growth, development and many other areas of society. So, in almost all countries awareness arises for that inequality. Gender equality is an important goal for both Turkey and the EU. Therefore, Turkey and the EU are regulating a lot in both the constitution and the market for equality. In this context, the Gender Gap Report, the Global Wage Report, the movement of many data sets, and the source of gender inequality are examined in order to see the extent of gender inequality in Turkey and the EU. The impact of gender inequality on wage inequality is analyzed comparatively. According to the results obtained, gender inequality in Turkey is seen to be higher than almost all EU countries. However, this situation does not reflect proportionally gender pay gap and it seems to be better than many EU countries. However, Although Turkey is generally mentioned as an improvement, it is seems that gender pay gap by same education and same profession is in favor of men. Therefore, both Turkey and the EU should struggle to remove gender inequality and gender pay gap. For this purpose, many problems that create inequality such as prejudices, gender-based government regulations, occupational discrimination, gender discrimination should be removed.
