Women's employment in the textile sector from a gender perspective: A sample of Diyarbakir textile workers

The study, which seeks to understand how inequalities between women and men resulting from gender perceptions exist in the employment sphere, also aims to examine the impact of these inequalities on women's identity. The study sample consists of women working in the textile sector in Diyarbakır, a sector with a high female employment rate. This study aims to examine how gender influences women's starting work, their working lives, their daily life practices, and their desire to continue working, from a gender perspective. It also examines the perception of women working in the textile sector in Diyarbakır, and whether working life itself has led to changes in women. The findings of the study indicate that gender-based discrimination exists against women working in the textile sector in Diyarbakır, negatively impacting their employment. Furthermore, the combination of domestic responsibilities and the challenges of work life discourages women from employment. Furthermore, it was concluded that women working in the textile sector in Diyarbakır generally hold traditional perceptions of gender and accept existing inequalities.
