Abstract (EN)

This study aims to examine how representations of women in television series are constructed in the context of gender roles. In the study, two current television series in Turkey, Kızılcık Şerbeti and Kızıl Goncalar which harbor different ideological and cultural representations, were selected as the sample. The study, which was conducted within a feminist theoretical framework, utilized especially liberal, radical, psychoanalytic and postmodern feminism approaches. In the analysis where discourse analysis and feminist film analysis methods were used together, female characters were evaluated under three main headings: representations of women in the conservative sector, representations of women in the secular sector and changing/transforming female characters. This analysis identifies how both series represent silent resistance and transformations to patriarchal norms that restrict women in public and private spheres through variously reproduced characters. In this respect, the study aims to highlight the impact of media and its products on gender perception, raise critical awareness of women's representation, and contribute to academic discussions in this area.
