Place of architectural photography in social sustainability of social life

History of photography began with the first image captured by Joseph N. Niepce in 1826 and discovery of photography led photography artists to different areas. The buildings, streets, roads, and cultural structures in these areas were photographed, and these photographs remained to our day have been precious documentation of history, which present important information about those days. Architecture is a field that involves numerous characteristics of a society and nation. Setting out from the fact that each architectural structure bears traces of a culture and these are the most important indicators of an era and from the requirement that the architectural works and cultural and natural structures that were inherited by us and that will be transferred to the future and will give information about the era, natural and cultural properties in the city of Eskişehir were researched. Within the research, the evidence of their existence was provided through the art of architectural photography. Importance of architectural photography was emphasized in cultural properties sustaining existence within social sustainability of social life, as a part of the geography and culture it belongs to, without alienating to these elements, whereas also the critical power of photography and its success in expressing and changing social truths was considered, some solutions were offered for the photographed structures to create social awareness in preventing and stopping destruction and to develop historical and cultural consciousness.
