Özet (EN)

This thesis examines the relationship between cinema and sociology by analyzing the representations of social inequalities, class divisions, and gender roles in films. The study focuses on three films: the South Korean Parasite (2019), the Mexican Las Ninas Bien (2018), and the Turkish Toz Bezi (2015). Despite being selected from different cultural contexts, these films dramatize the universal features of class and gender-based inequalities. The theoretical framework of the thesis is built on Pierre Bourdieu's concepts of cultural, social, and economic capital; Karl Marx's theories of class conflict and critique of capitalism; feminist theory's critiques of gender inequalities; and the Frankfurt School's concept of cultural industry. This framework provides the basis for understanding the social structures depicted in the films and analyzing these structures' universal problems from a comparative perspective. In conclusion, Parasite, Las Ninas Bien, and Toz Bezi showcase how social inequalities and gender roles are represented in different cultural contexts, highlighting cinema's role as a tool for social critique. This study reveals the impact of cinema on social structures and its ability to illuminate universal social issues through cross-cultural comparisons.
