The usage of natural zeolites to prevent for deficiency of zinc through the earth

The fact that zeolites can be easily and cheaply obtained inTurkey and used as soil regulator without a complex process has increased theinterest on zeolites. Studies show that 30 per cent of the world?s agricultural landsand around 14 million hectares of land in Turkey suffer from the lack of zinc.In this study, clinoptilolite-type of natural zeolite obtained from Manisa-Gördes region and, a zinc-form natural zeolite that has been prepared, contactingit with 1 N ZnCl2 solution for 72 hours have been used. They have been mixed atthe ratio of 0 kg/da, 0,5 kg/da, 1,0 kg/da, and 1,5 kg/da with the soil - on theapplication and research fields of Eskisehir Osmangazi University, the Faculty ofAgriculture- which includes 0,24 ppm zinc at the beginning. in this field,chickpea- named Akcin 91- has been sown.In grown product, number of peas, their weights, first heights, the numberof peas attached to one root have been compared for four different values.Depending on the increase of the doses, the improvement on the products hasbeen recorded. The grown chick peas have included 28 ppm Zn.For human nourishment, leguminosae should include 20 ppm Zn at most.Therefore, it has been observed that the product includes zinc more than the mostvalue. In this study, it has been concluded that zeolites are the materials that canbe usable in transition of micro elements from soil to plant. In order to decreasethe high amount of zinc, studies in the future should be conducted on the zeolitesproduced with lower normalities of solutions.Keywords: Natural Zeolite, Deficiency of Zinc, Chickpea, Clinoptiloliteii
