Geotechnical characteristics and seismicity of the Tosya urban and vicinity area

Currently avaliable data about geotechnical characteristics and seismicity of the Tosya urban and vicinity area are collected.This town is located in the North Anatolian Fault Zone.The study area is divided into 4 main geotechnical zone by multi-comparison of various ground data.Several geotechnical tests applied to the soil samples collected from the area.Dominant soil type is sandy alluvial fan deposit.Geological map of 1/25.000 scale of the Tosya Urban Area, is prepared.Geotechnical Zoning Map at 1/25.000 and 1/5.000 are drawn, based on geological and geotechnical data.The results of geotechnical reports done by various organizations, during time interval of 3 years (1999-2001) and bore hole data are used for determining boundaries of geotechnical units in 1/5.000 scale map.Isometric contours of soil boring capacity ( qc >are drawn at 1/5.000 scale.Safety stress values and soil profiles are given for each zone.
