Sufi culture in Tosya

Tosya has been under Islamic rule since the known history of 611/1215. Many Sufis have lived since that date, organizing their lives according to the Islamic order. Various orders such as Halvetiyye, Kadiriyye, Zeyniyye, and Nakşibendiyye have been active. The leaders of these orders have contributed to the upbringing of many scholars, statesmen, and artists in Tosya. At the same time, these spiritual leaders have made significant contributions to Tosya in various fields by constructing structures such as lodges, mosques, and baths, in addition to numerous scholarly and moral works. The main purpose of this thesis is to research and examine the lives, works, and lineages of the Sufis who lived in Tosya. In line with this goal, the general characteristics of the orders that operated in Tosya, their sheikhs, and dervishes have been revealed. This work consists of an introduction and three chapters. In the first chapter, the general history of Tosya is discussed; the second chapter focuses on Sufism, and the third chapter examines the Sufi orders that have operated in Tosya in broad terms, addressing the lives, lineages, and works of the great figures who lived in Tosya.
