Abstract (EN)
This study was conducted to research the correlation between preoperative andpostoperative knee functions with psychiatric functions in patients who underwenttotal knee replacement in Afyon Kocatepe University Department of Orthopedicsand Traumatology. This study was done on 30 patients operated between October 2006 and May 2008. A questionnaire comprising of 3 sections was used to gather data. The first section included demographic data. The second section consisted of Beck Depression Scale (developed by Beck et al to evaluate depression levels of patients) and the third section included the Beck Anxiety Scale. Preop and post op knee scores were gatjered from the patient charts. The data were evaluated using SPSS 11.0 statistical software and adescriptive statistics was done. Preoperative and postoperative parameters were compared using paired samples T test. Regression linear analysis was done to determine the variable factors affecting preoperative and postoperative depression and anxiety factors. The intersex differences were analyzed by one way ANOVA test. There was a marked difference between the preoperative and postoperative knee scores. There also was a marked difference between preoperative and postoperative beck depression and beck anxiety scores. We could not find any correlation between preop beck depression and anxiety scores and preop knee scores. We also could not find any correlation between postop beck depression and anxiety scores and postop knee scores. In conclusion although there is a marked improvement in psychiatric conditions of the patients after total knee replacement, this improvement is not foud to be correlated with the severity of the preoperative clinical status or postoperative clinical improvement.Anahtar Sözcükler: Beck Anxiety Scores, Beck Depression Scores, Knee Function Score, Total Knee Arthroplasty, Psychiartric Function
