Özet (EN)

Introduction and purpose: The medical students constitute a significant group of research on burnout in recent years. In this is the study at Adnan Menderes University Faculty of Medicine, we aimed to determine the factors affecting the students' burnout. In addition, we will identify risk factors. We believe that it will provide guidance to burnout preventive intervention programs. Material and Methods: This study was planned as a cross-sectional analytical study. 861 of the 965 students who are present in the years 2014-2015 in the Faculty of Medicine have participated the study. Students who participated in the study were asked to complete the questionnaire under the supervision of a researcher. In the first part of the questions are investigating various factors that may be associated with The questionnaire consists of two parts. In the first part, there are questions investigating sociodemographic characteristics and several factors that can be associated with burnout. In the second part, Maslach Burnout Inventory - Student Survey (MTI - SS) was used, assessing the student burnout. The data has been entered into the database created by SPSS 17.0 statistical software and statistical evaluation has been done. Results: According to our study, the male participants was found to show more depersonalization than the women participants. In terms of grade levels; 1st and 6th-graders showed more depersonalization than 3rd and 4th-graders. 1st-graders also have lower personal accomplishment scores. The effects of various socio-demographic characteristics such as the number of siblings, monthly income, social security, education and the employment status of parents were found to be very limited or none. Students who said that they live with their parents throughout the education showed less burnout than the other students. Students who think they are happy to be medical students and medicine is the right and suitable profession for them showed less burnout. Medical students who selected the profession by own choice and who had prior knowledge of the medical profession showed less burnout. Students whom lost a year and stated that they intended to leave the medical faculty had more burnout. The medical students who find the education in our faculty inadequate and state that they could not get prepared for TUS (Medical Specialization Examination) showed more exhaustion. Students who stated that they have financial difficulties, having trouble sleeping and couldn't spare enough personal time showed more burnout. Conclusion: In our study, we observed that students' opinions and attitudes about being a medical student and the profession of medicine and several other factors are more meaningful than sociodemographic factors predicting the burnout scores. We think that education and intervention programs which would be prepared for the risk factors that are detected would be effective in recognition and prevention of burnout.
