Abstract (EN)

In this study, the failures in the Taşönü (Trabzon-Araklı) limestone quarry were examined with the fuzzy logic system. Drilling works were carried out at 5 different points behind the failure zone in the field, which was exposed to 3 different planar failures between 2005 and 2007. Physical and mechanical tests were applied to core samples obtained from the drillings. By combining laboratory studies with field observation and evaluation results, a 3D model of studying area was modelled and it was revealed that new possible failure planes could be formed. By determining the surface location of the new failure plane on the 3D model within sectioning, the extent of the possible failure zone has been formed. Limit equilibrium method has been applied to quarry by using the geometric dimensions of failure mass created by 3D model. The fuzzy logic system was modelled with the data of the quarry. In the fuzzy logic system, created by using Matlab Fuzzy Logic Designer, the data was fuzzified by using lower-middle-upper limits of real data as expert opinion and the result was defuzzified by Mamdani inference system. Firstly, the results of different membership functions were applied and compared within cohesion, angle of internal friction and unit weight input parameters. Afterwards, different results were analysed with input parameters as cohesion, angle of internal friction, water pressure and blasting acceleration. Factor of safety, as an output parameter, obtained from fuzzy logic system was compared with analytical results, calculated with RocPlane program. It was found that the fuzzy inference system, which was created by reducing the number of parameters compared to the analytical solution, produced results close to the limit equilibrium analysis results. Within the scope of the study, it was revealed that the fuzzy logic system and analytical solution results were positively and highly correlated in the correlation analysis.
