Abstract (EN)

Language comes first among the elements making up a nation. We transfer our common feelings and thoughts to each other through language. Thanks to language, we get along, reflect our cultural values and transfer those values to the future. We need to pay attention to our language, Turkish, that we use today and that we want to transfer to the future. Mass media, having an important point today, appeals to large communities. And it achieves these purposes through "language". Because of this, we need to pay attention to the use of correct and beautiful language in mass media. In this study, by examining the language use in newspapers, one of the mass media of Trabzon province, it has been tried to expose the effects of some spelling and punctuation errors on the language, such as grammatical errors. The problems of the research are "What are the spelling mistakes, punctuation errors, expression errors in the newspapers in the Trabzon local press?". The content of the research has been tried to be formed by examining the last 3 years of 10 newspapers in Trabzon. Newspapers has been read by using the document scanning method and the detected errors were examined. After the examination, the errors detected has been classified and expressed in sub-headings. In addition to these sub-headings, tables have been created on which title is seen more incorrectly and on the daily or weekly printing of newspapers, and comments have been made as to the mistakes. At the end of the research, it has been observed that there are errors in the use of language intensively in the newspapers, and it has been concluded that these mistakes have been made both because of distraction and because of the failure of competent people in grammar. And in the conclusion part, it has been emphasized that language awareness should be increased in order to eliminate all these mistakes, and that the importance of leaving a beautiful language, Turkish, that reflects their own values and cultures to future generations.
