Abstract (EN)

SUMMARY Modelling and investigation Of Water Quality Of Kalyan River İn Trabzon(Maçka) In this study, by taking water samples once a month for the whole year from 3 different locations in Kalyan river, which carries the water of Atasu Dam, which will provide the drinking and usage water for the city of Trabzon, the water quality of this river was determined. The parameters studied inthe samples were Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Dissolved Oxygen (DO), Electrical Conductivity (EC), Flow, Temperature (T), pH, Nitrate Nitrogen (N03"-N), Nitrite Nitrogen (NO2VN), Organic Nitrogen (Org-N), Ammonium Nitrogen (NH/-N), Orthophosphate (0-PO4"3), iron (Fe), Zinc (Zn), Aluminum (Al), Cupper (Cu), Lead (Pb), Chrom (Cr), Anionic Active Surfactant, Turbiditiy (NTU), Total Hardness (TH) and Total Pecsticide. The ranges found for Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Dissolved Oxygen (DO), Electrical Conductivity (EC), Flow, Temperature (T), pH, Nitrate Nitrogen (N03"-N), Nitrite Nitrogen (N02"-N), Organic Nitrogen (Org-N), Ammonium Nitrogen (NH4+-N), Orthophosphate (0-PO4"3), iron (Fe), Zinc (Zn), Aluminum (Al), Cupper (Cu), Lead (Pb), Chrom (Cr), Anionic Active Surfactant, Turbiditiy (NTU), Total Hardness (TH) and Total Pecsticide were 0,40 - 2,15 mg/L, 1,1-10,6 mg/L, 8,64 - 1 1,08 mg/L, 80 - 255 uS/cm, 0,87-9,20 m3/s, 7,2 - 20,2 C°, 7,55 - 8,30,1,01-1,86 mg/L, 0,0020 - 0,0140 mg/L, 0,09 - 0,36 mg/L, 0,013 - 0,098 mg/L, 0,080 - 0,529 mg/L, 0,103 - 0,910 mg/L, 4,2 - 14,3 pg/L, 0,017 - 0,039 mg/L, 3,67 - 6,87 (ig/L,0,19-1,15 ug/L, 0,017 - 0,140 mg/L, 0,328 - 0,530 mg/L, 1,5 - 8,2 N TU, 49,32 - 155,00 mg CaC03 /L, 0,67 - 1,10 ug/L respectivly. By comparing the analysis results with The Water Pollution Control Directory (SKKY), Turkish Drinking Water Standart (TS 266) and standart recomended by World Healty Organization (WHO), the quality of the river used for drinking was evaluated. Consequently, the total hardness, turbiditiy (NTU),orthophosphate, detergent and chrome values measured throughout the research, were high, the other parameters were found within the normal quality values. In the light of these works, how these investigated parameters were distributed along the river, was proved. Also, for determining how the establishment of some settlement and institution, Which yet do not exist but will probably be built in future, will effect the Kalyan river and for preventing the probable unfortunate circumstances, Kalyan river was modelled by using QUAL 2E mathematical modelling system.
