I have been working for ten years in Istanbul in a university where the teaching is being made in the French language; my interest for the Turkish language increased gradually especially for its interpreting into French, my native language.Aymil Doğan?s book has been for me the occasion to deal with certains aspects of interpreting which is the oral version of the translation .I decided to translate the most revealing chapters in order to understand the process of interpreting.After having translated the ?Introduction? (pages 1 to 8 of the book) which gives any idea of the main subjects dealed in this book, I concentrated myself on the main models and mental processes being used in interpreting (chapter 6: pages 115 to162) as well as the strategies being built to cope with and solve the inevitable difficulties (chapter 7: pages 165 to 174).It arrived to the conclusion that memory is the key word in understanding the stockage and the recuperation of information in the efficient ruling of the process of interpreting.I had to decide like for any translation, a strategy of translating.As Aymil Doğan?s book has not been written for the majority but for a targeted public which is specialist in interpretating, I decided to adopt a target-oriented strategy.Remark: all the figures or tables appearing in the selected chapters of this book have not been voluntarily translated into French;the ones which give the most efficient understanding of the models of interpreting remain in the final version.Key-words:interpreting, memory, target-oriented strategy.
